Alabama Football: Javon Baker on Injury, Jameson Williams
WR Baker Says He ‘Dodged a Lot of Bullets’
Alabama wide receiver Javon Baker had a night to remember as his first two career receptions went for touchdowns, but the redshirt freshman admitted he was not feeling well after the game. Baker, who finished with three catches for 50 yards, said he was “a little banged up” after the game. During the second quarter, the 5’10, 178-pounder took a big hit on a pass from Bryce Young. “I got my bell rung a little bit,” Baker said. “I dodged a lot of bullets.” Baker added that he was still feeling a little woozy after the game but was planning to take some pain medication and get some rest. “I’ll be alright,” he said.
Baker’s performance was an unexpected highlight for the Tide, who struggled to move the ball against the Bulls. The Tide finished with just 296 yards of total offense and were held to 105 yards rushing. “We didn’t play our best game,” Baker said. “But we found a way to win and that’s all that matters.”
Baker Talks Jameson Williams
Baker also spoke about the loss of Jameson Williams, who is out for the season with a torn ACL. “It’s a tough loss,” Baker said. “He’s one of the best players in the country. But we have a lot of other guys who can step up and make plays.”
Baker said he expects to play a bigger role in the offense with Williams out. “I’m ready for it,” he said. “I’m going to do whatever I can to help this team win.”
