The FIR was filed based on a complaint filed by a local Bajrang Dal leader. The complaint alleged that Prof. Shahzad had made offensive remarks about Hindu gods and goddesses.

Anticipatory Bail Granted

On September 29, the Allahabad High Court granted anticipatory bail to Prof. Shahzad. The court observed that the allegations against Prof. Shahzad were "vague" and "lacked specificity."

The court directed Prof. Shahzad to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 50,000 and two sureties of Rs. 25,000 each. The court also ordered Prof. Shahzad to cooperate with the investigation and not indulge in any activity that could disturb the peace.
