Originally conceived as a single film, the highly anticipated movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical "Wicked" has now been split into two parts. The first film, simply titled "Wicked," is scheduled to be released theatrically on November 27, 2024, according to the official movie website.
The announcement follows years of anticipation surrounding the film's production. "Wicked" tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, Elphaba and Glinda, and has captivated audiences worldwide since its Broadway debut in 2003.
The film adaptation boasts an impressive cast, including Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo ("Harriet," "The Color Purple") as Elphaba and Ariana Grande ("The Voice," "Sweetener") as Glinda. Jonathan Bailey ("Bridgerton") and Marissa Bode ("Juno") are also set to star.
